Deserving of the hype!I've only recently discovered the Twilight phenomenon after watching the DVD of the film, which I liked so much that I wanted to read the book. I LOVED the book and I'm now going on to read the others in the series. I wasn't sure to begin with, as I'm not the target readership and know I couldn't get on with Harry Potter - I started to read the first one, and it really was like reading a children't book so I gave up. However, I was hooked on Twilight from the first couple of pages. As is usually the case with books, there is much more detail here, and the blossoming relationship between Bella and Edward makes a lot more sense than in the film (although the film has Robert Pattinson!). I couldn't put this book down, and now it's ended I'm moving straight on to 'New Moon'. I can't wait to see how the story progresses and I believe it's fully deserving of all the hype. Surely any series of books good enough to get people reading has got to deserve credit. I'm in my 30s so not a teenager, but I can remember the intensity of first love, which this book captures extremely well. I would encourage anyone thinking of reading Twilight to try it for themselves, and simply enjoy it for what it is - an excellent page-turner of a book about an unconventional, bittersweet love story.
Super book that is totally different to the filmI got the 3 books for a birthday present. My other half loves vampire films, and loves the Twilight films. The first one is locked on Sky+ so that she can watch it anytime. I was a little apprehensive about this purchase, because the last book she read was the highway code for passing her driving test, and the only other reading she does is the TV Guide.
However, she started the book and is totally engrossed in it. She keeps saying that it is different to the film and really is enjoying reading it. If a book can get her to start reading and get interested in reading books, then it totally deserves 5 stars.
Personally I have not seen the films or read the books, this is just an observation and what she has said.
FantasticI thoroughly enjoyed the Twighlight Saga, so much that I have actually purchased all four books in hardback. Engrossing and heart wrenching at times and defintely a good read.
A beautiful and enchanting read!I had seen the first two films before i decided to read the books and wasnt sure what to expect with them. I had heard nice things about them from a lot of friends so decided to read them myself.
The books have a lot more in them than the film in terms of little details and extra events but i found it was a lot easier to understand after watching the film because i could imagine what the characters were like easier.
As a 20 year old i was quite suprised how a book could still draw me in and create all these amazing images in my head. The authors descriptions are enough to easilly see what she means without going on and on and i also found the language level in the book is comfortable enough for anyone with a average vocabulary to read but not so easy you skip through it.
I finished the book within 2 days because i just couldnt put it down! Once you start reading it you just want to read the full thing. The story line is enchanting and you cant help but fall in love with the characters!
Overall its worth the cheap price on here and its worth having a read of the first one as if you like that style the second is just as addictive :)
A big disappointmentI never particurly liked any sort of books that have a chance of beating the Harry Potter series and for several months I have squeezed in a bad comment on this book. However, my best friend was recommended it by her mum. I felt a bit odd. I had commented on this book terribly, making it clear that I felt the books were terrible until I actually considered the fact I had not read the book myself. I got a copy from the library and read it. My views remain the same. This book has a bad writing style. The 'vampire' thing with Edward is the kind of thing 6 year old americans think is 'cool'. I think the bok is silly, plotless and half the book is wasted. This would do better as a series on disney tv.
Sorry, but this book doesn't grip e like many others, despite its fabulous reviews and dazzling fame.
